Dublin, Bray, Glendalough, Kilkenny, Cashel, Cork, Blarney, & Kenmare

We finally arrived to the country I've been dreaming about visiting... IRELAND! =)

We landed in Dublin early which gave us plenty of time to pick up our rental car and locate our hostel with time to wander around the city.

After a short time of aimless wandering through the streets of Dublin we decided to stop at a random pub to grab a bite and pint.  I was a bit leery to eat at this place because I was judging the food by the looks of the bar.... but I was pleasantly surprised.  I ordered the Guinness Beef Stew and it was amazing... like seriously amazing. It's my mission when I get home to replicate the recipe. After we finished our meals and beers we wandered a bit more and ultimately decided to check out the Guinness Factory Tour.

Best Guinness Beef Stew in the world.
Guinness tour... it's all about the hops.

Cute little 'tasters'

We weren't huge fans of the tour... it was cool how it explained their history and process of making beer but it wasn't touring the actual distillery... just a story of the process.

The next day we wandered around Dublin a bit more.... witnessed a protest.... walked all the way to a museum just to find out it was closed.... played some ping pong in the hostel... drank some beers at a pub with live music....slept.

Yesterday we hopped in our rental car and hit the road! I forgot to mention how utterly terrifying it is to drive on the WRONG side of the road.... not only that.... I think it is more terrifying driving on the WRONG side of the CAR! Driving from the 'passenger seat' is almost surreal and I completely neglect my left side for some reason.... Ryan constantly reminds me that I am getting too close on the left.

This is me hoping I don't kill us.

We drove through the Wicklow mountain area to get to a little town called Bray... a cute little coastal town with some really nice hikes. We were enjoying this scenic drive so we stopped off the road to take a quick picture ...... this is when we noticed one of our rental car's hub cap was missing!

Why did you leave us hub cap??

RAWR! This was a unfortunate event.... and of course we declined the insurance. Lets hope Visa covers hub caps.... and the many scratches we will ultimatelyget since the roads are SO NARROW with either a stone wall or thick brush border the left side of the road. Did I mention driving in Ireland in scary? I have had to dodge many sheep and suicidal dogs on extremely narrows roads...

Killer Sheep.... just kidding... just regular sheep. (The red is spray paint markers)

Can the roads be any narrower?... we learned YES.

I was excited to use my selfie stick again... but in order for the phone to fit I had to take it out of the case. As I proceed to remove our phone from the case when Ryan tells me "You better not drop it".... to which I gave a classic smart-ass reply about him breaking our original phone in the first place. Of course not long after our chat .....I drop the phone. But it wasn't my fault.... seriously.... my SELFIE STICK BROKE ='( .

Rest in pieces selfie stick... you will be sorely missed.

Luckily the phone survived..... unfortunately the selfie stick did not. Most devastating part of our trip so far. Ryan seems nonplussed.

Last selfie stick photo...possibly ever.
After Bray we headed to Glendalough which is a Medieval monastic settlement.

We headed to Kilkenny which was our finally stop for the day.... unfortunately it was starting to get dark when we were walking so we headed to a local pub for some live music, food, and beer which we thoroughly enjoyed.

I planned on posting this last night .... but unfortunately decent WiFi seems to be hard to come by in Ireland (I am actually finishing this post by tethering from our phone.... I hope we don't get a massive phone bill). I also wanted to add a lot more pictures but it is just not possible at the moment since this phone isn't as awesome as our last and requires a lot more work to get them on our laptop than any normal phone. Anyways.....hopefully we will have super fast WiFi soon where we can post more of our awesome photos.

Today we drove from Kilkenny --> Cashel (The Rock of Cashel) --> Cork --> Blarney (Blarney Stone) --> Killarney. We were originally going to stay in Cork but after driving around a bit we decided there wasn't much there that interested us so we planned on going to Killarney with a quick stop in Blarney. We didn't go into the Blarney Castle area or kiss the stone since we already paid to go into the castle in Cashel and we weren't interested in kissing the stone. After walking around Blarney for a bit we headed to Killarney. Luckily we were accepted to an Airbnb last minute which we headed to right after another delicious Irish meal!

Ryan REALLY REALLY needed to get near thees cows... then got too scared to get close lol

Sorry of the lack of photos and details...... hopefully our internet situation will get better. which will making blogging a breeze. Side note: You might want to get use to our clothes since these are our only 'winter' clothes.... you'll be seeing a lot of them now.

Until next time.
